2020 In-Person Symposium: In collaboration with 5th Ward Islamic Human Development Center, Islamic Society of Greater Houston(ISGH) and The Islamic Institute, our first Texas Annual Prison/Jail Dawah & Reentry Symposium was held in January of 2020 at the Turquoise Center. 100+ attendees signed in. Volunteers participated from DFW area, Houston and San Antonio, including Peer Mentors, Imams from all our diverse communities.
2021 Virtual Symposium: 100+ attendees signed in and watched the three Panels Discussions. Sheriff Ed Gonzales welcomed participants and shared his feelings about the Muslim Mentor Program in Harris County Jails.

2023 DFW area’s first and Salaam Reentry’s 5th Annual Symposium was held on Saturday January 28, 2023 at MAS Dallas.
56+ Dallas Metro Muslims attended the symposium, more than half new additions to Salaam Reentry’s contacts.
Chaplain Omar Adib Shakir, Chaplain Tricia Pethic, Baquee Sabur and Joseph Clark address the assembly.
Imam Saeed Purcell, Ismail Jefferson, Charles Ahmed Mosley, Sebahaddin Abi Hapis, and Victor Alvelias
presented their organizations programs serving the incarcerated.
5th Annual Texas Prison Dawah & Reentry Symposium was just held on December 9, 2023 at Masjid Taleem Muhammad, 511 40th ½ Street Houston. Our first inner city Masjid event.
Symposium theme was “A Creative Inner-city and Suburban Collaboration”. The suburban representation was dismal with exception of Masjid Al-Mumineen, the Nigerian Masjid. Only one non-African American prison volunteer and two prison Dawah supporters showed up. May Allah accept their attendance from them.
It was a marvelous event with following highlights:
