2020 In-Person Symposium: In collaboration with 5th Ward Islamic Human Development Center, Islamic Society of Greater Houston(ISGH) and The Islamic Institute, our first Texas Annual Prison/Jail Dawah & Reentry Symposium was held in January of 2020 at the Turquoise Center. 100+ attendees signed in. Volunteers participated from DFW area, Houston and San Antonio, including Peer Mentors, Imams from all our diverse communities.
2021 Virtual Symposium: 100+ attendees signed in and watched the three Panels Discussions. Sheriff Ed Gonzales welcomed participants and shared his feelings about the Muslim Mentor Program in Harris County Jails.

Muslim inmates cannot offer their Jumah Prayer unless we have a volunteer gathering them to hold Jumah in the Chapel. Volunteers Needed Fridays 10:30a.m.–2:00p.m to serve inmates’ spiritual and emotional needs.
Prior to Covid-19, we had 8 brothers and 5 sisters volunteers. On the average, brothers hold 2 Friday Congregations weekly, while sisters hold 2 visits monthly. Female inmates are held on 1 floor, while male inmates are held on 10 different floors in 3 buildings.
